leaky front pushrod middle?
Just put my motor together. Revolution performance 124 stage lll heads 627 redshift cams. roller rockers and stands. quickey pushrods...ect.
I was doing the 3 heat cycles for initial break-in at my buddies house were we built it last Sunday. drove it home for the first time...man it sounded so good...first time on her since the whole process began 3 months ago...little over half way home about 10 miles...oil leak...aagh! rode it home and discovered oil coming from the front exhaust pushrod tube...thought that perhaps I just didn't seat the top o-ring properly...after she cooled down, popped the clip off pulled down the tube reseated the o-ring on the upper tube and into the head and done. cleaned it up and went for a test ride. Dang thing still leaking. noticed it was only leaking from the middle o ring...not the top. went to the dealer and bought 6 new o rings (3 for the intake and 3 for the exhaust) placed them properly top middle base...pumped up the lifters and readjusted the pushrods...test ride...still leaking in the middle! aagh!
Changed out the complete assembly for the exhaust (pushrod, tubes, cap, spring, washer and o rings) and same thing for the intake...swapped them for each other...pumped up the lifters , adjusted the pushrods again...test ride...aagh! same thing...still leaking! how can this be happening?
This leak is not a drip...it won't do it at idle, it does it under load...it just streams down out of the middle exhaust tube and sprays half way up the cylinder...it's a mess.
What do you think I should do/check?
2008 sg
yep...even new washer(s)
just can't figure out how or why this is happening?
By deductive reasoning...I replaced/switched out the entire intake assembly (which wasn't leaking) including the pushrod, with the entire exhaust assembly (which was leaking) and now the one that was leaking isn't and the one that wasn't is...
Think I might go back into the cam chest and double check my timing marks on my inner set of gears? Maybe they moved a link (thought I was careful) when i seated them? Maybe exhaust valve isn't closing at compression stroke?
I don't know...?
I don't mind ripping it apart...I just want to rip apart what needs to be...too much time already spent...but you guys know that already : )
I'm still open for suggestions...?
