Understand that some people are having Oil switch issues but don't think that its the problem with this one.
So the bike was changed out by the dealer, HD bringing in new different parts for the oil pump. In 2 days of getting the new bike it was puking all the water out after stopping the engine.

Turned out faulty radiator cap

Question Brand new M8 engine knocking

Hi , I've just bought my first Harley Davidson, which is an M8 Electra glide ultra. I love the bike . I am worried as I did the first 1600 klm in 4 days and took it in for the first service and asked the dealer if a loud knocking which sounds a bit like a gudgeon pin loose when the motor has no load on it at 1500 rpm to 3500 rpm was normal, the noise is not there under deceleration or when accelerating. I have now done 2200 klm on the new bike that is a week old today. the noise seems to be a little louder than at the 1600klm service now. Can anyone tell me if this is the normal sound for the m8 engine under no load cruising at 100 klm hr [60 mph ?
I told the dealer at the first service and he said it was not normal and said they would check it out. they said nothing about it when I picked the bike up to ride home the 900klm trip. So I PRESUMED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINE AND THAT THE KNOCKING TYPE NOISE UNDER NO LOAD MUST BE OKAY.
Maybe I just worry to much about my $44.000 motorcycle. Any input about this would be a great help . Cheers guys

I had to spend the night and cancel my trip. three weeks later the stater failed and the bike shut down more then an hour away from home. when i got the bike back to home i took it to Macon Harley and they repaired it and on the test ride with the technician the motor started knocking and after there trouble shooting found the motor was trashed again!! stick with the twin cam 103!!!!!!
Wow that's crazy! I hate you are going through all that. Over the years you hear about horror stories with the 103 from some people and other people have no issues. The same is true with the 107. I had three Victory's and had issues with all three but other people have none. Anything mechanical can have issues but I know that doesn't make anyone having issues feel better. Has HD and your dealer been very responsive at least? I know when I had issues with my Vic's it took an act of God to get the manufacture to do anything about it, and they never could fix one of the bikes.

That is very unfortunate...as well as very hard to understand.

Does Ga have a lemon law?

Confidence in what you ride is critical to the enjoyment and safety. Once you have lost the confidence in what you have there is nothing that can be done by the dealer or mfg to get it back, short of starting over.
If I planned a vacation, trip or day ride and threw my leg over bike to leave and had an issue that prevented that or worse be miles from home and bike laid down. It would be rectified by a correct repair or it would be gone one way or another.

Sounds like you have the intelligence of a Hillary supporter.

I really hate to say this but after owning a 85 flh, 2001 electra and a 2005 electra i am giving up on harley. My bikes go in the shop at least twice a year for things i really dont want to fix, like internal fuel line leaks, inner primary leaks, cam chain upgrades. I am just sick of it. Everybody i know has problems and since the 07s came out it seems that the problems just continue. We went and looked at new touring bikes today, 2017 ultra with a radio upgrade $26,800 and comes with all the latest problems. After harley we went to honda and priced a new 2016 goldwing with everything the harley has plus heated seats and grips on a standard bike, $22,500. I really like the harleys but years of continuous problems and one of the most expensive bikes, im done.

I am with you I think, at least for the 2017 M8. I was going to buy one and after reading about oil pump issues and now the migrating trans oil, I am also done for now. Wish everyone the best.

Aint it great being a beta tester! I look forward to every new issue my M8 will have. You would think Harley by now would know how to build a utility engine and power train.
