Just makes sense to me to replace the inner primary bearing as well when doing the seal .. Went through all the trouble of changing to Inner Seal just to find out it was the bearing causing the seal to leak ..

The OP will see the source of the leak when the inner primary is removed. Source could be main shaft/5th gear seal or MDG seal (tranny) or, as has been mentioned shift shaft seal or IPB seal. Everything behind the inner primary as well as IPB race, bearing and seal should be replaced.

I've been chasing this same demon with a '94... Mine IS the inner primary seal.

This is how the bike looks when the primary is off... FYI, its SUPER easy!!

Isn't that bad if you have the tools and a stand but can be a bit messy depending on prep and your wrenching skills. You don't have a compressor or impact check a local indy shop it's a common and not that expensive job.

It is probably not the primary outer gasket; had it drained, put a new gasket on and left it overnight without any oil in the primary - still leaked. Well, I gotta change my belt, so looks like I'm pulling the primary. Damn, not looking forward to this.

Any special tools I will need? And, what else should be done while this is opened up?

I saw a video, and they used a piece of wood, like a 2x4 about 8" long.

To do the belt, it requires the removal of the swingarm?

If your belt is shot, you better look at your sprockets. The front will be squared off if it's bad.

A leak that bad is most likely a walked race into the main drive gear seal. Also, look at the bolts that hold the primary chain adjuster to the primary - they are supposed to be sealed with silicone.

If the oil is coming across the starter jackshaft and dripping on the belt, you need to drill a relief hole where the starter drive plunges into the primary (1/8")and be sure to add a little RTV to the sealing washer.

Do not try to bend the belt into place with our removing the swingarm - you will damage it and it will break in a short time.

It's not shot, just has a small hole from a pebble. I could probably let it go, it's been like that for a while. I just figured if I'm in there, I may as well do it too.
