Default Cam install Fail!

2001 Road Glide TC88
I put S&S 509 cams and adjustable pushrods in. Also put new cam chain tensioner shoes. All went well And I started her up, she started first crank. No oil pressure! Any ideas? I am sure all the o rings are in there. anything else I should check?

How long did you let it run,did you take oil pump apart,if you took your pump apart sometime you can put it together wrong and you will not get any oil pressure.as long as you use Assembly lube put it together you can let it run 30 or 40 seconds to let it start pumping oil.30 ,40 seconds will seam like a long time while it is Rattling.your light should go out pretty quick,it will take a little longer for oil pressure to build up.omly thing you can do is go back over your install and double check everything.

WellAftersittimh and pondering and reading through the manula again. I think I know what I did. I cant recall 100% but I think I may have put the oil pump togther wrong. I tried to keep it all one peice when removing and while installing I turned it over and the insides fell out I look at the picture in the manual and put it together accordingly but now that I look at it I think I put one of the plates in the wrong spot.

Also, when you get it back together, remove the plugs and use the starter to spin it up and circ oil without starting it. If its FI, remove the FP fuse also.

That's a good point. I hadn't seen a suggestion to do that in all my research when I swapped my truck motor, but an old-timer that gave a hand with it had me use the starter to spin the motor while we still had it on the engine stand before we put it in to get oil circulated.

I didn't do that when I swapped my cams, but a good idea nonetheless.

I am in the habit of spinning starter with plugs out before I install push rods. A couple of 10 second cycles on the starter will get the pressure light to turn off, you can see oil pumping out of lifters, and you pump up the lifters. If gauge is installed you do see pressure there.

If not. There isn't as much to take apart to explore and fix.

I would bet pump assembled wrong.. Seems to happen a lot for first timers..

Oil pump should be assembled in the following order.. Fat gerotors, plate, wavy spring, plate, thin gerotors..
