`94 FXDS has an Issue, Your Help; Appreciated
The bike cold starts right up without using the enrichener, just a couple pumps on the throttle, hit the starter. Idles smooth, throttle very responsive, ride a mile or two runs strong then suddenly I`ll feel a little sputter or two then it starts rapidly losing power and starts repeatably surging and backfiring out of the carburetor. Now here`s the part that to me seems most odd, wait a few seconds and it will fire right back up and runs great for a mile or two then the process repeats itself.
I haven`t really done much, but I cleaned the carburetor, replaced the enrichener cable and flushed the tank. I thought that the tank may be pulling a vacuum stopping the gas flow so I Loosened the gas cap to see if that helped, no, none of this worked.
I used a bungee cord to tether my phone to my rear view mirror and recorded a couple instances of my problem. The recording is less than three minutes long and I know it will tell you more about what`s happening with my bike than I can.

I don`t know if the petcock is OEM, but I do have a new one that I can install. Isn`t the VOES for regulatiing timing?
What do you mean by "don't forget to plug the line", what line and where do I plug it?
Hillsidecycle.com:
I`ll put a spark plug in my pocket and when it happens pull off a plug wire, put the plug into the wire and place the threads on the cylinder head then hit the starter and see if there is any spark. I`m thinking is that it will spark because I can restart the bike immediately after having to shut it down.
Thanks guys for all the advice. I`ll try them all and keep you posted.

I rode about 30 miles up the Pacific Coast Hwy 1 and it ran like a dream. I`m confident the problem is resolved, but knock on wood.....
Besides feeling stupid, I feel bad for wasting your time on this, what should not have even been an issue.
I appreciate everyone`s time and effort spent trying to diagnose my problem. It`s refreshing seeing an online community coming together to help a member in need. I now have a greater respect for this forum and forums in general. I also have a better understanding of what membership really means.
Long days and pleasant nights,
