Just a quick update. talked to Scott and he is going to machine the left side case to accept a new stainless steel sleeve that he is going to machine and install. It'll probably have better clearances and stability than oem. I have other goodies as well being done. I think this last motor upgrade should take me to the finish line.... Time to play....
You sure he's using SS for sleeve material? I woulda thought sintered bronze would have been better.

If I under this correctly, what has happened is in the aluminum case bore for the crank roller bearing outer race got loose. Someone makes a SS sleeve with instructions that once you bore the case for a press fit, this sleeve presses in and is also retained by a couple of set screws from turning. So the actual material is not any type of wear material. Just tough since it's is also not all that thick. Know there is a sleeve that face bolts to adapt later model Harley's to the older style bearings I think?
