Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
First things first this is my first HD and am still familiarizing myself with the genius engineering that is HD. So though I tend to be mechanically sufficient when it comes to maintenance I made a oops and spilled oil from the filter during my oil change. At the time, I was unaware of the rubber/oil sensitive motor mount located directly below that oil filter. In my ignorance I have since put approx 600 miles on this mount which is quite oil covered. How bad should I expect this mount to be? Full replacement automatic whoops or can it be properly cleaned, shimmed and reinstalled?
You are not the first to spill oil on the front motor mount. Matter of fact I wager that this is not the first time the mount has seen oil. Clean it up and ride. The increased vibration may be in your head.

I've questioned the vibration myself but it was verified as different when my 6 year old pointed it out without any prompting.
So I tore into it and it looked picture perfect once I cleaned the oil off, guess my journey of the phantom vibrations continues.
On an 09 UC there should be 2 rubber isolators on the sides of the frame.. You might get some oil on the left one but the problem is more common on 08 and earlier baggers where the rubber isolator was right under the filter.

I completely missed the model year as being an '09 so disregard my input on the Glide Pro. Glide Pro does offer the two isolators bwoltz refers to in his post but I have no experience with that hardware. I do have experience with the earlier Glide Pro mount and it has been good which is why I made the suggestion. A moot point now since you have examined the mount but I did want to correct myself on the Glide Pro input. Let us know if you find the vibration; sometimes it can be come from an unexpected source........
