OP hand carried pieces/parts to us, we performed the machine work, to surround his existing cam.
He installed the set up at home.

We are VERY good with carb tuning, and have been tuning for well over 20 years now, and yes, there is more lurking in that combo.
North of 100 ft/lbs should be in easy reach.

I agree, if it was me I would drive the extra distance to have the same shop do the tune. Was just trying to give him another closer option.

I might just do that. Would have to set up an appointment. I know there is more to be had for TQ/HP but I am in no way disappointed with the build.

No they did the machine work and I built the motor at home in the middle of February.

I do live about 4 1/2 hours away so as another poster stated I was looking for something closer.

The reason I mentioned Dr. Dyno is because I am making the trip to Laconia so it is not like I am going out of my way to get it done.

Yeah and there was two foot of snow.

For the record I did mention dyno tune at the time of pick up but of course it was February.

Since I bought the parts and service from you what would the dyno tune cost?

Thanks.

I have a 5 hour drive to my dyno tuner but it's totally worth it

I really don't trust any of the tuners by me after asking them questions and wish I had a warm and fuzzy feeling about them but I don't. I agree I should be making more TQ and HP!

Well, I can only go by what you posted which sure sounds like the dealer was involved in the tune. Are the carb parts all OEM? Do you know the jet sizes? Do you know what needle is being used? A good place to start would be to give Scott a call and see what jetting has worked for them on several builds. A carb is a compromise and cannot be tuned as "tightly" as fuel injection. You will need a handful of jets, maybe another needle, some .025" needle washers and some dyno time to tune. Took me about 2 hours and 4-5 dyno pulls to bring my all bore 107" (SE CV44) in from initial jetting to get max numbers.

I specifically told the dealer not to touch anything on my bike as far as adjustments. Only to do a dyno run to give me the numbers. The dealer did not tune anything. I have a Mikuni 42 as my sig states.

I have done some jetting changes and it is better by seat of the pants dyno.

I did talk to Scott about jetting and he stated what I had in the Mik should be good maybe go up a main jet size. That is it.

Right now the bike is running good and definitely don't think I need to go richer on the main jet because by the dyno at WOT I am running rich.

My bad on the carb; missed that in the OP. Glad to hear things are improving.

Default Think I am dialed in now!

Today did some jetting changes to lean it out a bit based on my initial AFR that I got from the dyno and have these currently installed in the Mik:

Pilot: 20
Pilot air screw: 1 1/2 turns out
Needle: 97 with clip in the second slot from the top
Main: 162.5
AP: 50 (what was put in it when I bought it) set to come on immediately

Bike runs strong in all circuits.
No pinging.
Very little to no popping on decel.
No backfiring or popping through carb.

I actually think I am good by what my seat of the pants dyno tells me and the ride ability is great!

Now I think my compensator is going. Too much power for the stock unit?
Getting some hot start starter kickback.

Any recommendations for which comp to replace it with. SE? Baker? Something different?

Thanks.
