I am with everyone else on the ignition.

On my 10.5:1 95, I was running 200 main, 45 slow for jets and a 5/5 on my DTT. this was with Woods TW8 cams.

Now after a lifter roller went south, I switched to the S&S 585 cams like you. Now I am a bit rich on the main so I will be going to a 190. I also have been playing with the ignition, and find the 585's like even more advance - I am at 6/6 now and it runs nice there. You REALLY want a good ignition. I run a wide band O2 sensor and a gauge in my dash for instant A/F readings - it really makes tuning way easier.

I'm surprised you are running that much timing.. I usually find more power with less. Have you check CCP?

According to everything I have read, I am surprised as well. I have not checked CCP since the cam change - I have only ran a couple tanks of gas since as well. After the change I was running 5/5 still. It seemed soft on the bottom end, and rich across the board. Just for grins I tried the 6/6 setting - it woke this thing up and helped the A/F readings. I am still rich on the main, but good everywhere else. I really expected some ping or hard starts but nothing yet (these are easy starts so hard start should not happen).

Sorry I've been busy... looks like I'm gonna be picking up a daytona twin tec ignition here right away.. Should I spring for the dtt coils too or would the stock ones work well enough?

Stock coil is is fine.. With the TCs, they went to a 1/2 ohm primary which likely boosted the output to over 30KV.. They work quite well. If anything, close the plug gap to 0.035..

OEM ignition can/will blow the top ring land off that.
When you say DDT ignition, do you mean the carbureted TC88 ignition by Daytona Twin Tec? Just verifying, it's close to 500$ cdn when I order it online, I don't want to buy the wrong unit. I spent 4k on this build so far so I don't want any more surprises...thanks

Yep.. Gota get the year right... Need the 2 connector version up til 2003. Very good ignition..

Double check your part numbers but this guy is great to deal with and he's in Canada.
