Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
as for the intake, its a SE eagle, but NOT 58MM SO WHY WOULD I STAY WITH THAT, MAKES ZERO SENSE THERE.......as they have others that will line up with throttle body when I'm ready, if I'm not happy with power, I'm just getting my ducks in a row, and buying stuff lil here n there, I have to STEAL MONEY FROM MYSELF,ive done a shitload more than the 107 build believe that, I have a build thread if your interested...no offense but for someone who said he read three time, you should know I have cams and headwork done, motors built, I'm heat cycling TOMORROW......LOL
I ran the 58 mm because I started with a stage 4 kit.. then scrapped all that and went to the 107 build.
I actually was very close to going the way Dave did.. and porting my stock throttle body 50 mm .
I like the idea of constantly Building better each year. Infact I have already talked to Dave and Scott about a new build.
while many will tell you there is some voodoo needed for the break in.. realize this. No one is correct and few are wrong.
Alot of the quality comes in the machine work and the tolerances kept. Change the oil often is what I was always told.
Some will say it's a waste of money (and I am sure it is) but ya know oil isn't that expensive and I don't want shavings in my parts.
OP, a TB in the 60mm+ range is too big, you don't even need larger injectors for your 107". As mentioned, a 55mm TB will suit your build well. I built a 117" from my stock 88" and am running an HPI Maxflow 58/55 TB and 5.3g injectors, you do not need anything bigger for your build...
Find a cam that suits your riding style. Find "stage 4 heads" to match. 50 to 58mm TB. Bore jugs to 107". Find a good exhaust. Buy a PV or TTS. Trust the builder.
My 50MM TB on my 107 was smoothed out and just got a new cam swap after 3 years. Did 120 HP and 130 TQ. Could I have got more with a 55 or 58? Sure. Almost all at the top end.
Trust whomever you started with and build it. And quite overthinking this.
I set up a break in map on the dyno. Rode it home, and breaking it in on the road. Changing the oil at 50 miles. Changing the oil and filter at 200. Oil/ filter at 500. Back on the dyno sometime after 500 for a full retune. Opinions vary.
