I run the S&S 124 640 Cams in my 2006 Street Glide. The variable clutch plate was required. After installed no slippage at all. Running stock starter. I love the purchase. Bike was in g8 condition when I bought it. 17k miles. Sold engine to friend $1500 To help with costs.
Have wonderful day
I agree, when building a motor, build it for YOUR riding style, not others.we do a lot of 124" builds, from very mild touring motors to very aggressive builds.one thing we don't do is try to push anything on anybody, its built to the way they want it.my personal bike is a 2002 RG with a VERY mild 124",131/142,with 2 nitro bikes & the shop to run,i want a fun bike to ride & tour on,but don't want to be messing with it all the time.have fun with the new build!!
Can you please give the specs / details of your Mild 124 a Dyno sheet would be nice,, Also list exhaust..
Sir
I had 2 individual run a dyno. However the 1st individual was having difficulty with machine. S&S then recommended Jud Cowley out of Sache Texas.
I did not get sheet. My mechanic delivered and picked up my bike for me. Sorry I have yet to look on my flash drive for results. Mr Jud stated over phone 128 torque 126 horse power. I love it.
I use S&S 58mm Throttle body with 5.3 injectors.
I have a makeshift 1/4 straight away near house.
I running 115 mph in 1/4. This should put me in upper 11's.
As of 8/22/18 The engine has 4750 miles with no problems.
I also put a 10 row horizontal Jag oil cooler for this East Texas East. Bought fans that attach to it from Big Sky out of Montana. It is unreal how low the big engines temp are low after or during ride.
I also run ams oil synthetic 20w-50.

My bike is running very rich so I called the builder who tuned the bike. He said his dyno had dirty O2 sensors which is probably why it's running so rich. Getting it tuned again in a couple of weeks. Not riding it until it's tuned. Just thought I'd let everyone know.
I am running the HD heavy duty clutch spring and hope it holds the 124" power. No headwork or anything really fancy. Figuring around 140/140. Any thoughts if it will hold or not?
A clutch spring won't cut it and a 124" with no headwork won't come anywhere near 140/140.we do a lot of 124"builds and use BANDIT clutches on most of them, also use 110 (ported) heads on most, they will go 145+ no prob, but if your using oem castings, even with bigger valves you won't come close
I'm using a Barnett Scorpion with lockup pressure plate and billet clutch basket. My heads are S&S 91cc heads left alone. Another head guy told me that my setup should reach 140 torque. As you can see the horsepower is pretty weak.
