Going from a stk 09 96" to new 48 cams - should i be expecting more load as the bike cranks slow now

Time to take the battery out for a load test or is this to be expected ?
Thanks

Dave

If the OPs battery needs replacing, a lithium replacement would be a good idea. Just replaced the battery in my '02 FLHT with lithium and should have done it last time. Shaved about 20 pounds off the weight and it spins, starts faster. A little more money but worth it.

Good news Bad news kinda thing

Battery tested good held 400cca for 10 sec and never fell below 12.5 volts

So now i have to find why it cranks so slow

Stk 09 96in with the 48 cams

Will check and see if its a tune issue or me issue - i know everything was lined up in the cam chest but if i have to ill open it up again

Hope eveyone is having a good day LOL

I would check for a voltage dropped at the starter terminal. A poor or corroded cable from battery could drop enough to cause the same... Did it ever start since the cam swap?

As you stated earlier, Did you check the cams yet? I guess it's possible to retard the cam timing which will cause the intake valve to close sooner creating a little more ccp but I've never heard of anyone doing that before and am not even sure if it would start...

It actually starts and runs fine just a slow crank , ive second guess myself a dozen times and the cam timing and dots on the gears all line up ,i will be going into the wiring over the next week - If anything im thinking a bad ground someware
Its interesting for sure

Default compression check

I would still do a compression check usually gives u a pretty good indication if cams are not lined up ive done about 4 cams over the years , as long as the rings are seating good on both cylinders u should be pretty close on the readings in both cylinders.

What did you end up going with brand-wise?
