Default We 259 e cam

just purchased a 103 kit for my 96 and it comes with the se 259e cam. Anyone have any info on it? The compression will be a 10:5:1. Wondering if I should swap it out for a s&s easy start or keep the 259. Thanks

I have that cam in my Stage IV 103 Ultra Limited. It gets up and goes, no complaints.

Is it really 10.5:1 or is that HD's advertised numbers? They usually come in a couple of points lower than advertised. Even with 10.5 and a 47 closing. It won't be a bottom end cam.

If wanting EZ starts. I'd suggest the Rocket 574. With a 38 closing. It will work better at 10.3-10.5:1.

I'd think that cam would want more than 10.5 to make it shine. It's still going to be soft on the bottom at 10.5.

I had an Andrews 67 (which was pretty much a twin to the SE 257, which is pretty similar to the 259). My compression was at 10.8 and I still thought the 67 was soft down low. I'd look at more compression and a tuner that can tune it, or get a different cam.

It’s the stage 3 upgrade and it states 10:5:1 and the kit comes with that cam

257's turn on a little later and will be a little softer on the bottom.

259 is virtually identical to the 251 - look up the specs.

In the EFI super tuner, the maps even list them as 251/259E as interchangeable when performing a cam selection. I have a 103 with 251 and it's got more than enough grunt fight from the get go. It's a good cam for a heavy bike.
