Help! Putting the exhaust back on my 14’ Fatboy Lo and the stud sheared off. Tried to tap it and it won’t budge. Called the closest dealer and they want $350 to remove and reinstall the engine and $180 to send it out to get the stud out. Looking to try and save $500 so any tips to try before I send it out would be appreciated.

If I am seeing it right-
Most of it is drilled out?
A left hand drill will remove the rest.
Or
Install a time cert and call it good.
Or even a Helicoil.

What I see is what's left of the stud. Try an easy out since you've gotten this far. If you think that is going to break, stop, take the head off and take that to a machine shop.
get the tool Ed has so graciously linked for you. it will allow you to drill out the remains and stay on center so that you can install the thread repair option of your choice. if you have the angle, you might be able to do it with the head still installed on the bike. if you cant get it on the bike, it's not hard to remove the head yourself and do it on the workbench, it will save you a ton of cash and you'll get a learning experience out of the deal.
