Mechanic made sure oil pan was clear but I don't think he actually flushed.

Broke in new set very deliberately and now have about 15k miles on the build.
My friend had an S&S 110 kit, same thing, new parts covered

If my issue was somehow faulty parts coming out of S & S, I'm surprised as hell to see it still happening and I wonder how often it does.

Between the cost of hotel stays, truck rental, shop diagnostics where I broke down, repair back home, and lost vacation days, this issue cost me a few grand. It cost S & S nothing more than one set of jugs and pistons.

Obviously, my faith in S & S is low enough now that I'll not likely be buying their brand any more.

There is a plug in top of cam plate. I would also remove check valve. Run oll back thru from oil pressure sending unit.

Drop oil pan off transmission. Replace the two oil injectors if it's a TC

Be sure that piston to cylinder clearance is correct measured properly. Even without properly calibrated tools, if you use a inside mike and then use the outside mike, you will know clearance.
I just rebuilt a 1.6 Vtec Honda. All pistons looked like that. One of the cylinders had zero clearance. They also forgot to put the pilot bearing in the crank (actually flywheel in this case). That tore off a clutch friction disk) and did a number on the transmission input shaft.
