Default Cam choice thoughts

10 flhtcu ,stage 1, s&s pt dual, MGS Slip-On ,se a/c and pv.
bike has 50k miles.
looking for low to mid range. Rarely see above 4500.
thinking s&s 551 easy start, with new lifters and was gonna replace pressure relief valve and spring while I’m in there.
want to do work myself and also looking for best prices. FM will provide tune for pv.
any thought, cnahnges additions....
thanks

I asked Jamie Fuel Moto what he thought and he told me and I went with that over all the popular ones mentioned. Cyclerama 570-2

Heads. Call some reputable head porters and tell them what you want your bike to do. They will know what combo's will work well together. Then get a competent tuner to tune it. Not a map in a can.

Do it all once and have it done.

JMHO but I think I would stick with the S&S 551 for a cam only upgrade to a Stage I 96" motor, i.e. no head work and all other parameters stock. Static CR is 9.2 IIRC and it will take an early intake close cam to boost compression to get that low and mid range grunt. I love the Cyclerama cams, run the 595 in the 98" motor in my '05 FXSTD but the motor was built around a cam with 46*-48* intake close.

I'd be leaning towards an Andrews 48.

Another Andrews 48 vote here with the CR 570-2 second. We have installed dozens of 48's on 96's and 103's with very happy customers...

I have the 551 cams installed in my 103 FLHTK. Love them for two up riding and in the mountains. My engine has all the torque I need but when riding alone along the coast I wish it had a little more to the right. Lucky for me it fits 90% of my riding style.

Thanks for all the input.
the Andrews 48 or woods 222 was my other choices just thought the easy starts would be a good root to ease starting process and wear and tear on starter.
i guess changing lifters would be wise as well?
thiughts on the oil pressure relief upgrade?
again bike has 50k miles on it

Both those cams are good choices. I'm a woods fan but I believe the 48 was specifically made for the 96"er... And you don't have enough compression to worry about an E-Z start cam...

understood, but was having a slight hot start issue and was going to replace starter clutch but thought maybe the easy starts would take care of it.
will consider the 48s
