Default s and s gear drive

I am in the process of putting s and s 509g cams and gear drive in my 06 road king. I have .002 pinion runout which is in spec. Got it all in but in the 12 and 6 o clock position i have .0005 thousandths of backlash and 0 at 3 and 9 o clock position. Its looking like I need an undersize gear. Has anyone had to buy an undersize gear for their bike and if you did how much lash do you get out of them? Is one undersize say .001 undersize and the double undersize .002 undersize? I know there are 2 undersize options but s and s doesnt list anything about it. Im sure they just asume you are gonna buy both gears for 100 each which is just insane for one small gear, Thank you for any info you can give me.

I'd run it.. Might whine a little when cold but they won't rattle when hot..

No way am I running it like that. I was just curious if anyone would know how much clearance the undersize gears give.

Why not? Done it a number of times.. Are you using a 10th indicator?

I agree,we`ve installed 100`s if not 1000`s of gear drive sets since they were introduced.with .0005 backlash, you will have no extra noise and the +.001 will make no difference (with the +.002,you will end up with a whine)

you don't happen to be a mechanical engineer do you? I have friends that seem to over think things way to much. These Harleys aren't refinery turbines needed 0 tolerance clearances haha
