Default Camplate problems

I have a stripped out bolt a hole on my engine case, the one that attaches the camplate where the dowel pin is.The thread I need to repair had a Heli Coil that failed.
I was planning on using a Big-Sert 5420 kit for the repair.
The following is part of a email I sent Time-Sert;
The diameter of the hole is now approximately 0.317. According to the the specifications for the 5420 kit the drill bit is 0.307 dia. and the tap is 0.359 dia. Will I have enough material to hold the insert? The material is aluminum. The bolt hole I'm repairing is counterbored for a Dowel Pin, which the bolt passes through. I plan on replacing the bolt with a stud, which I'll use permanent red threadlocker to lock the insert & stud in place. I'll reinstall the Dowel Pin, which will partially cover the counterbored lip of the insert.
Time-Sert's response;
No we don't want the failed hole to be larger than the drill in the kit .307 inches. Sorry we can't be of much help on this.
I'm thinking that 0.010" shouldn't make that much of a difference. The hole tapers to a smaller diameter towards the bottom, I can't accurately measure it. Time-Sert does offer inerts in different lengths that are not listed.
My other options that I know of, are is a E-Z Lok insert or KeenSert, which both require a 3/8-16 tap. I don't' know if that would interfere with the counter bore for the dowel pin. Another idea would be a std. 5/16-24 Time-Sert & use a 5/16-24 -1/4-28 or a 5/16-24 - 5/16-24 stud, but I'm not having any luck finding either of those sizes.
I'm looking for ideas, Thanks

Have you looked into Loctite's thread repair kit? I have used it and I honestly think it's the best option for your type of repair. It's really simple to use.

I'll have to look into the Form-A-Thread. Use it to hold a new Heli Coil.

I repaired that hole once with a 3/8 x -16 tap; it did not interfere with the dowel pin counter bore. I did have to ream the hole in the cam plate for the 3/16" bolt to pass through. I would normally have heli-coiled and used a 5/16-24 stud to make the repair but was in a time crunch.

This..and think he mentioned 3/8 (.375 drill or reamer for 3/16)

When I repaired mine the threads just cut into the counter bore for the insert. It left plenty for the dowel, so it was probably the 3/8 O.D. thread.

I'm using 1/4 bolts still with the insert, should hold up fine w/ the steal insert.

Thanks for all the responses. I ordered the E-Z-Lok kit. I'll update on how it went after I'm finished.
