HP junkies of course like big numbers up top “right side”, but two up, heavy baggers or guys who tour with lots of gear would need a “instant hit”, “left side” power curve. For me, all that would do is spin my high HP lightweight bike’s rear tire and be worthless...
No free lunch, and those who say “power down the middle”, on both sides”, usually means compromises on both ends..... or pay big $ to get it everywhere.
No free lunch....
So-as as far as ported heads....OP, why won’t you name your porter? I know several outstanding porters who will work on heads ported by others.
You want others to stick their neck out- but you won’t? Ported heads are but one of a dozen motor mods to achieve a specific goal....look at your motor, bike, etc, as one unit. Period.
if you are happy with him, back him and walk your talk....
“walk the talk”? I asked a simple question asking what kind of bump in performance I would get going to Stage 2 heads and whether a set of Stage 1 heads could be used, as I have heard some porters don’t want to rework other’s heads. I got my answers, thanked everyone, and responded I was not going to go Stage 2. Did not think I asked anyone to stick their neck out, or make some tough decision. I never said I was unhappy with the current heads - they are simply Stage 1 heads and I was thinking of going Stage 2 to improve performance. I did not want to give porter’s name, as I have seen too many posts get misinterpreted and people start flaming a guy’s work. I have never heard the porter mentioned on this forum and saw no value in bringing it up.

Damn, never heard him mentioned before? So what? Because there is only a half dozen porters mentioned here regularly, out of dozens of outstanding head porters in the USA? Who gives a **** if he was never mentioned here before. He did great work right? There is always room at the top for outstanding performers in any field.
No excuses, if you support him, you stand by him...you proudly name him-you don’t hide him. Nothing to misinterpret, it is what it is....the data is there-screw what anyone says about him. Period.
