Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I have a 2003 FLHTCI that went through the S&S long block program. It's now a 106" with gear drive cams. I also have a 2006 FXD that has a bone stock motor in it.
I no longer ride the 2003, I ride the Dyna everyday in the summer. My question is is it possible to swap the 2 engines? If it's not doable, I'll likely just end up upgrading the 2006, at some point.
I did a quick check and it looks like the inner primary housing is different, but I am not familiar enough with with all the differences to to say weather or not it's possible, hopefully somebody with more knowledge will reply
The 2 motors are not interchangeable. 06 FXD is a six speed tranny and 03 flhtci is 5 speed. Primary and oiling system changed between the 5 speeds and 6s. The 06 dyna needs and 07-up bagger or dyna motor. (or 06 dyna)
I'll be damned, I retract my previous statement. I made an assumption they all had the same bolting patterns and oil pump hookups onto the transmission.
