really? cuz the oiling hole is in a horrible location
That because the hole is not needed.. If you want to be **** about it, get the SnS bearing retainer plate, It has a deflector that directs the oil to the gears. Still it's not needed.
not being **** just dont want to find the hard way about mismatching parts together.. so enlighten me why is the hole there but not needed? do gears not need lube like chains do?
Trying to learn from this post. Max opined that the cam plate was shot. I am having a bit of trouble seeing the damage. Is it the marks at approximately 2, 3, 4 and 7 o'clock?
Not second guessing anyone but rather increasing my own understanding of what to look for.

What Max is referring to is the deep grooving at the face of the camplate that interfaces with the oil pump in the bottom picture. The oil pump fits tight against the plate, no o-ring like the earlier models. Pretty well groove all the way round. If the pump and plate fitted well, you would see some shiny spots but some of the orange coating would remain.

The surface area where the gerotors run is scored.. It should be flat with the rest of the plate. A ton of crap musta gone through the pump.
Thanks for the clarification. I see what you mean.
I am laughing at myself right now. I was looking so hard at what I thought was the damaged area I never pulled back to see the big picture. It's been a few years since I changed out my cams and plate. I needed to pull out the FSM and do some remedial study.
Thanks again for helping me learn.

Reason: grammer
Only time I have seen oil pumps break is with excessive crank run out. When ever I see that much metal in an engine. I pull engine apart. The oil filter will bypass and pistons will not live long with a clogged cooling jet. Splash oil in crank case cavity is pretty none existent with case design.
