I had the 48H cams in my 96" Dyna Street Bob. I was happy as can be and if I was doing it again, I would 100% pick the same cam.

The intake closing number of the 555 warrants a compression increase to support it, as it should be. 10.25 is it.
That said, simply boring to 107" with a flat top piston would do it.
Cam only?
Mighty tough to beat an Andrews 48 in both a 96" or 103".
Happy to help.

I had the 48h in my 96” and honestly I’d wait til you can do a big bore and a better cam. In the long run it’ll be cheaper that way.

I have a 2011 Heritage with the Andrews 37H cams , power vision/target tune, Freedom Tru duels. It's great at low end torque and no down shifting when passing.
Even with duels it moves. Very happy with them. I will be doing a Screamin Eagle 110 kit later this year.

I have a 09 FXSTC I started with a 30 tooth front pulley and a 70 tooth rear. That alone helped getup and go tremendously and I can cruise on the highway in 6th gear at 65-70 now instead of 80+.

Next I installed a set of SE 204 cams. This changed the entire characteristic of the bike, it sounded better, ran better, and most of all responded better and pulls through the rev range much quicker. My exhaust isn’t good but I love the looks and sound. I got V&H bigshots with thunder monster baffles.

I've since upgrading the motor to a 0 mile 2016 softail 103 cylinder and head takeoff from a local guy who bought his bike and had a 110” kit installed before even taking delivery including the ACRs.

If you leave the 103" motor stock, you might be disappointed compared to your 96" in the '09 but maybe not with the 30/70 pulley arrangement.

Hi dj, I did leave the 204 cams, I added the SE 1.7 rockers and .030 head gaskets and the bike has a Thundermax computer which I love as tuning is easy. I’m happy with it, it goes good.

So, you set up the 103 this way? Should be a nice runner. The 204 cams are a bit timing/compression sensitive but once dialed in the extra compression, there is no mistaking the lumpy idle for a cammed motor. That set up, is a little soft off idle but comes on strong in the upper low end and all the way through the mid range. The added lift is a good idea with the later and better flowing heads. It would be interesting to get the motor on a dyno, tweak the tune and see the numbers. The Thundermax will get close to a decent tune but no substitute for the dyno.

And I will add, that our # HMM-1070 107" Big Bore Kits,(and # HMM-0980, 98" kits) to include forged pistons, cylinder boring, complete Cometic top-end gasket set, ring end gaps set, and installed on the pistons, are still only $675.00!!
Available in both flat top and 6cc's for 107"s.
Flat top and 8.5cc's for 98"s.
Not made in China.
