Twin cam with 60k . Noticing more oil dripping from filter than Id care to see. Should I lift the rocker covers and replace the breather assemblies? or just add an external? Its a SE backing plate btw. Is using the outlaw breather bolts with the filter an option? Seen others add these and then seal the ports in the backing plate. Seems like a bandaid but...
any thoughts?
Here's another option. I ran it on a sporty out of the cam chest. It worked good and no more mess dangling from the heads. You can run there too tho and leave the stock breathers in there.
I'll be doing something similar to my 103.
Drilled and tapped for a fitting in the cam cover and put a baffle inside to shield the 90° from oil splash. Sporty owners have been doing this ever since the change to head breathers.

Hi WeeBoy! Your fellow WPGer here. Hows the oil level in your tank? I run my lower than specified. After each oil change- it will sneeze some out for a bit until it hits its happy place.

I use to have the same issue til I went with that external breather.
At 60K miles compression and leak down tests are worthwhile to evaluate the condition of the top end. If ring seal is going south, replacing stock breathers or venting out will not make any difference. If ring seal is good, vent.
Thanks for all the feedback. Will get a leak down done in the spring when she gets a once over.
started running oil half way on dip stick last change and still drips a little out the ac. It’s not a lot just annoying.
will have a closer look and maybe remove backing plate and check all gaskets and passage ways when she comes out of hibernation.

JMHO but I don't suscribe to the "run it a half quart low" theory; have never done it on either of my bikes and no oil dripping anywhere. If ring seal is good and breather system operating proplerly, there is no reason to run less oil than the manufacturer recommends.
