Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Completely agree with all of the suggestions above
Couple things stand out though about the OP, 14 bike with "tire shredder" kit installed. I thought the first time I remember seeing "tire shredder" was when they came out with the 110" "drop in" cylinders, which was only a few years back.
So has it been 24,000 since the kit was installed, or is that the total odometer reading right now?
If that's total odometer the service writer is probably just tying to sell from their standardized list with no regards to when the engine work was done
Was the engine work performed by a dealer?
Either way I would have them replaced with a high quality lifter as suggested above
just asking for my own curiosity
I bough the14 EG in Jan 15 as a left over. No miles on it, so the wife gave me the green light to buy it. Now in the summer of '16 SE came out with the Stage 5 kit. I had 6k miles on the bike and had the same dealer install the kit. At that time the dealer had a top mechanic there who installed and dynode the bike. Came to 114 hp and 130 torque. The bike is like 950+/-lbs and in 1st AND 2nd you can lift the front end up real easy. So to your question, my bike has 18k+/- miles with the Stage 5 installed.

Thanks, 25,000 is the recommended service life for a lifter, so it's up to you, don't know what kind of miles you ride per year. However I would not reinstall Harley or SE lifters, some dealers will install non oem parts and some will not. Have a conversation with your service writer and make your decision.
