79 shovelhead rod end play
Do the rods seem like they have too much endplay? Seems a little excessive to me (ignore the background noise, it was pouring yesterday I have a metal roof on my building)

they are shot. crank pin probably has a wear groove in it. time to disassemble the lower end and give it a look. most likely will be replacing the rods and do a complete clean out of the oil bag and lines to insure you remove the debris the rods left in the there, you should also replace the pinion bearing and the timken as well, they most likely have metal debris in them. good luck dsv
