Default 2006 dyna engine heat oil pressure

Hi guys, I own a 2006 dyna with 28,000 miles. It is all stock except screamin eagle air cleaner and V & H short shots.I know that harley switched to hydraulic cam chain tensioners beginning in 2007 and all 2006 dynas. However these can still fail at around 50,000 miles, so I figure I'll just replace mine now. While I'm in the cam chest I will also replace the cams, Should I also replace the stock oil pump ? My goal is to reduce engine heat and increase oil pressure,If replacing both, how much lower will engine temp be and how much more psi of oil pressure can I expect ? Thank you. James

Replacing the stock oil pump will not increase oil pressure or reduce engine heat. If you wan to reduce oil temps a Jagg 10 row low mount oil cooler will help. With the addition of cams, you should consider a fuel management system and a dyno tune. A proper tune will optimize performance and keep engine heat down.; you will be surprised at the difference a proper tune will make.

DJL is right on but one additional thing, Dump the smog cam put in a andrews 26 or 48 and have it tuned. Motor will run a bunch cooler with a cam that has some overlap.

In a roller bearing engine, oil VOLUMN is more important than PRESSURE.

That said, plenty of reputable builders state that the stock pump is perfectly fine

Actually, that's true for most engine, but especially roller bearing engines.

I suspect that more pressure is important for plain bearing crank engines as the tolerances are tighter. You need the pressure the create film strength, where on a roller you just need a dab of oil.
