Default Hi oil temps caused by wet sumping?

I've been having an oil temp problem ever since I got by bike back form a timing chain tensioner replacement by a local shop. I'm running 250 to 270 on the big road (85-90 degree ambiant)at 75mph cruise, about 30 degrees hotter than before. No help to remove lowers on the 04 ultra with 52000 mls. After 2 months and most everyone I've talked to saying a tensioner change would't cause an oil temp. problem, I think I may have found someone with an answer. I talked to Steve Caldwell of precision V twins Inc. at a local hog calling dyno booth and he said if the guy didn't pull the oil pump and replace the o-rings the engine is probably wet sumping causing the oil temp to be high and can cook the engine. My oil pressure is good but the drag of the crank in oil is making the oil temp high acording to Steve. I'll be taking it back to the shop for an oil pump check I guess. Anybody ever heard of this before?

Yep, I have heard that if your oil pump efficiency goes down, your oil temp will increase. The more efficiency loss the higer the heat and so on. Wet sumping would most likely cause the same issue because of thelessening offlow of oil through the system. The TC88 does rely on cooling the pistons withoil jets so oil temp is critical for heat abatement on the engine internals. This is one big reason synthetic oils are becoming so popular. They seem to be able to handle an extra margin of heat. I would definitely look into that guys suggestion.
