Has anyone watched what Kevin Baxter posted on his YouTube page regarding a 2017 M8 factory defect?
I enjoyed watching but felt extremely bad for the owner and what he had to endure.
What I got from this is do not let the dealer tell you everything is alright when you know it's not. The other amazing thing is that the engine was still running after years of metal flowing or should I say stoping the lubrication.
If you run it at 2x video speed and use the L key to step forward, you can get through it pretty fast. Really only need to view the last video.
It looks like the motor had a bunch of machining swarf stuff in the pushrod area. Not sure how it got there but it's likely left over from machining the cases. I would guess that somehow the swarf got packed into a passage and missed during assembly. It slowly worked it's way out into the pushrod area. The only other possible reason might be that some dumped the swarf into the tappet cover during assembly.
