Made an oil jet checker. You can blow $220 for a Jims or make one yourself for under $50.

Make sure you mark that bolt so you know which way is up after the motor is back together. If it rotates you'll hear it.

If you look at the picture of the end of the bolt, the head has 2 marks from the endmill. The point between goes up.

I see it now. Didn't look close enough the first time.

The valves in the rear cylinder heads were bent. Guides seem OK but will pribabably get replaced.

It been kind a slow on the work for the DX, Had other projects plus the weather has been good. I have all the parts except I need to make cylinder dowel pins.. The part of the project I've been stewing over was correcting the balance on the crank. The Wiseco pistons, rings, pins and clips weight 1080 grams for the pair and Stock 88 ci pistons, rings, pins and clips weight 1200 grams. Need to account for the 120 gram difference. I calculated the balance factor for 1200 grams and checked the balance. The wheel balanced right at 52% with the correct weigh added. Early TC cranks had the halves of the crank balanced separately, You can tell by observing that the drill holes were in different locations on the different sides. Since I don't want to disassemble the crank, the way to balance it was to remove the same amount of material from both sides and at the area opposite the crank pin.

I had some 6 inch aluminum tube that I cut and squared the ends up so I had something to set the crank in while drilling holes..

Was able to deepen 3 holes on one side and add one more. Other side got 4 holes. I worked up a spread sheet of the balance weights and calculated roughly how much material needed to be removed. You can see by the bottom pic that my balance was off by 2 nuts..
