Bike looks real good... Should breath well... How much did you raise the entire suspension?
Maybe 0.3" in the rear. IIRC the stock rear shocks are 13.3 and the Works are 13.5. Fronts are stock but have been re-sprung and sag set. It looks tall mainly due to the rear fender being cut.
Well things didn't go perfect. I did a minor screw up and stuck the first sleeve. I was still able to get the sleeve out and cleanup marks in the cylinder bore to try again. Second cylinder went perfect.
The last sleeve kick my butt. It took 2 more ties to get it in. Third time was the charm. The problem is that the cylinder has to drop in perfectly straight. **** it a little, the aluminum grabs the cylinder and it sticks. I polished the lower inch of the sleeve slightly and rubbed a real light coat of WD40 on the polished part with a towel. I was thinking I'd have to dance around shafking a dead chicken on the next try. Fortunately this one worked. The cylinder got re-honed between each attempt. Still the fit was about 0.0033. Miked the sleeve and it was still round. I used wood this time as I was worried about the aluminum base sucking the heat out of the cylinder.
My buddy always says be careful how you trainum. And RIP always give him dirty looks when he shows up to ride or go golfing.
Obviously yours is well trained. Mine would be give me dirty looks for banging on her dual fuel stovetop even if it was a rubber hammer.
Wasn't always that way. When we were first married back in the late 60s, she helped me rebuild our 62 Corvair motor. We cleaned the block in the old cast iron tub in the apartment then however.
Fortunately I didn't have to beat on it. It dropped right in as it should. The big thing is the smell from the heating cylinder but by the 3rd heating, it didn't small all that much. Hood fan and select windows with a whole house fan keep smell to a minimum.
