After close inspection, I see I have some scoring. Not sure if it's from previous owner as I'm pretty meticulous about cleanliness. However I did have an adjustable push rod come loose that MAY have caused some crap to run thru.
The pump body has some scoring in the scavenge area. Mainly just this one spot. The feed gerators and where they mate to the cam plate have some as well. I've sure seen worse but now's the time...oil pressure has not been even a slight issue nor has sumping. Maybe 4-6oz on tear down.
What say you?
Yeah I figured as much. I can feel it. Barely but I can feel it. No big deal except I'd want an oem replacement and Lord knows how long that could take. Still waiting for oem cylinder studs I ordered 2 weeks ago. I dread replacing anything oem anymore.
Anyone happen to know the part number?
That was my first thought too. I've sure seen worse and with pinion shaft run out what it is on these things I wonder how many pumps out there are a lot worse and without a clue they are.
Everything is being thoroughly flushed and the crank replaced with an S&S. I could easily flat plate the cam plate. Those I can hardly feel at all. Its only the face of the feed then really.
Based on photos alone. I thought 60 was running all new cam chest guts; guess not.
Wasn't planning on it. Just the cams. I really don't see any benefit. Unless I'm missing something. Lifters have less than 5000 on them too. Top end has been quiet as a church mouse.
I did pull the bypass valve/spring. Not a spec of anything and shiny smooth too.
Only reason I could see is having outer cam bearings and increased oil pressure with like the fueling setup or S&S.

I'd clean it up with crocus cloth to all/any scratched faces. Solvent wash/clean it real good. Light coat of assembly lube. Reinstall with tapper threaded dowels as you roll the engine over by hand. Gradual tightening on mount bolts. Torque to spec. Best of luck.
