Just swapped out a S&S 475 cam for a S&S 540 cam this past weekend. Started bike up and I got a lot of clatter. In my old TC, I got lifter noise after cam swap, but it cleared up quickly after a minute. I let the M8 idle for a couple minutes, but no change in noise. Pushrods are SE tapered adjusted to 20 flats. I used S&S recommended 18 flats for 24tpi PR and added two more flats. Are more flats needed for .540 lift?
i have seen some people say ride it 20-30 minutes and noise will clear, but I dont want to ride it that much before tuning. I can adjust PRs again if needed, but wont have much opportunity before tune scheduled day after tomorrow. Any risk of harm during tune or negative effect on tune if PRs do not quiet down and need adjusting later?
The size of the cam shouldn't make any difference in the push rod adjustment. I would most likely , redo the adjustment. If its rattling away after a few minutes, something is off.
