Just back from a long weekend riding in WNC. Great riding!

Appreciate the input and discussion so far.

More information on the noise. I've noted that sometimes it's louder, and sometimes softer but always there. Seems to change pitch and intensity with rpm. To be honest, it seems to come and go as it wants. Leads me to think that something is not getting enough oil (I dunno, I have an S&S cam plate/pump) or there is slop in a moving mechanical piece (Rockouts were installed with the new heads). The noise is not a consistent tick-tick-tick. More clackity-clickity that varies. I know, that makes little sense.

Though, it nearly goes away at ~2750 rpms. Leading up to that point and just past the noise tapers from loud to quiet, and vice versa. At that quiet point there is still engine sounds, of what I believe folks refer to the "sewing machine noise" and is what I would expect to hear (not intrusive at all). Also, at 4000 rpms I have trouble hearing the noise. Not sure if it goes away or just too much wind/engine rev noise to actually hear.

I had had an issue with the rear rocker housing gasket lead right after the build. Took to the local HD dealer and they fixed it (builder took care of cost), but said they needed to clearance the rocker housing due to witness marks from the springs. Only the rear one was done, I believe. Not sure I heard that issue just then. This current noise is the front rocker area. Wondering if I should clearance the front rocker housing (cannot say I've read that that has solved this type problem). Builder says he checks this clearance and has never had an issue.

I've had my PR tubes bored to the 5/8's measure (I think that's it without looking it up) about an inch or down the tube. Didn't seem to make a difference before, so not sure that would be it now - but I will check. I still think the noise is much more than it should be, so I'll keep chasing it a bit. It really is very annoying when riding and seems to keep my attention no matter how I try to ignore or turn the radio up.

Though, of this engine where everything has been changed less the cases, rocker housings, rocker arm supports and rocker arms (and the chrome covers for everything) - there has to be a clue to look hard at. I cannot imagine the the new parts (cams, heads, cylinders, etc) would have this problem manufactured into them.
