Knoking in the engine
Has anyone had a knocking problem in the engine like in the video. After I drive 7-10 miles, the knocking stops.
Road King 2004, TC 88
What could be the problem?
There are no modifications.
65,000 miles.
Cam shoes are OK, they replaced last year.
the knock disappears after the engine warms up well and drives 5-7 miles. after the engine cools down, the knock comes back.

Get you a two ear Mechanic's stethoscope. Harbor Freight. $5.00 or use to be. Don't use a screwdriver.
Now probe it and locate it. Sounds almost like you have a piston broken that is dragging tight till cylinder warms up to normal and it doesn't drag.
The noise is the clearance in the piston pin connecting rod if at base of cylinders. Could even be a lifter if it's in the head and over at the lifter covers.
But it could be just a motor mount metal to metal.
Or pinpoint to the primary cover...
Stethoscope will zero in on it and at least eliminate stuff. Noise travels all over but with both ears plugged, you will hear and fill it.
What's the old oil look like and the magnet on the drain plug look like. Cut the oil filter apart and look there also.
You don't want to be driving down the road 70 mph and something breaking.
You also don't want to start digging for something till to know for sure what you are looking for.

This is great advice. I have a similar knocking sound coming from Reaper's engine. Mine doesn't go away with warming up, though. I tried to pinpoint the source of the noise, using the screwdriver method, which usually works, but I couldn't. I DID find a loose comp nut, and destroyed rotor/stator, but after replacing the broken parts, the knock remained. The other day, I got a stethoscope, and started listening around. Once I put the probe under the bolt between the cylinders, I could hear the noise plain as day. Definitely a bottom end knock in my case. She'll be going in for a complete engine tear down, and getting a plugged and balanced stroker crank. Can't really complain mind you. I got over 350,000 kms (217,500 miles) on the original bottom end.
Here's a video where you can hear the noise her engine is making, and see where I discovered the loose compensator nut.
Hopefully, you don't find a bottom end problem.
Cheers!
