Default flutter

2001 Road King 88" with Super E S&S carb. Idles and accelerates well in the shop but not so good on the road. Has slight hesitation just above idle and also has a little flutter just above idle. It runs great above that flutter. Any suggestions? thanks, gregjo1948

What jet sizes do you have in the carb and what's in the motor (build specs) and what's the accelerator pump setting..

Before getting to deep in the carb confirm your plugs are clean a gapped to spec then make sure you dont have any vacum leaks.

if its idling and accelerating good while stationary, does it eliminate air leaks/vaccum leaks? Plugs kinda tricky but usually give problems high gear load,. What do you think?

No it does not eliminate vacum leaks.
improperly gapped plugs create issues.
plug wires can also fail under load.
Paul, didnt you learn these basics at the dealer where you worked?

First adjust mixture screw 1/8 turn out. Then adjust the accelerator pump shot. With engine idling, turn accelerator adjustment screw clockwise until it lightly seats. Snap throttle open—engine should stumble. Turn screw counter-clockwise ¼ or ½ of a turn at a time, until engine responds to throttle twist with smooth, quick response. When ya blip the throttle and black puffs out yer pipes, back it off 1/8-1/4 turns. BIG difference between throttle response with no load on the engine vs riding it. Search sscycles.com and download the Super E set up instructions.
