I recently did a cam and kit upgrade.
New cam, lifters, cuff and pushrods but kept the original tubes.
Upon installation, I could not slide the pushrod over the top of the cuff. I had to loosen the cuff, slip the pushrods onto the lifters, then reinstall the cuffs. The stock tubes were fine and already chrome.
I also rolled the o-ring over the tube and then rolled down once pushrods adjusted.
It's obvious you may need to get something different.
Where did the set you have come from?

now I have to try and get the sucker out and start again....
