UK gas starts at 95 octane?! lucky! I wouldnt think pinging would be an issue with a higher octane fuel. Ive run 10.5 with .035 head gaskets plenty of times with no issues on California crap gas but, as mentioned above there are other potential issues with that set up and how it behaves on the street once tuned.
The OP doesn't know if static is a true 10.5; furthermore, static is just a number and meaningless. What counts is CCP and/or corrected CR; what is happening under operating conditions which is impacted by the intake close event of the selected cam. Depending on cam selection, one could have 10.5 static but CCP could vary from 185psi to 215psi.
