Default Overheating alarm

I have a 2015 Ultra (Not overly mechanically minded) I went on my first long tour recently and the engine and temp light came on in the middle of nowhere : Long story short I limped the bike back to a motel by waiting for the engine to cool and deleting the warning signal.
The bike was the shipped to a local Harley dealer they were very busy so had to wait days to be told in their opinion the computer states there is nothing wrong with the bike they say they rode it for 20klm and it didn't raise the alarm. My guess would be a temperamental thermostat Has anyone experienced a similar issue any suggestions?

Known issue with the 2014/2015 twin cooled models. The fix is to have the coolant pump upgraded to the latest unit (part number 26800107).
