Default 2012 VRSCA engine key light illuminates

Several times, seems like when I am stopped in traffic or at a red light on a hot day. The engine security key light illuminates. The other day the key illuminated and the hazard lights started flashing by themselves. If I pushed the turn signal button the hazards would flash on and off randomly. What's going on ? I can hear the engine fan kick on when sitting still so I don't think it's an overheating problem.

You need to check for codes in the TSSM (turn signal security module) The illuminated key symbol has absolutely nothing to do with the engine cooling system.
When was the last time you changed the battery in the fob? The battery in the fob is only good for 2-3 years. I write the month and year on the battery when I change it with a sharpie marker to keep track of how long it's been in service

That's just it, this bike does not have security or a key fob.

You still need to check for codes in the TSM (Turn signal module)
