Great advise Gliden and you're right. No holes. Your method sounds tried and true. Thanks!

I don't have piston ring pliers. I am going to try the dual vise grip method because I understand the technique and am confident it'll work fine. Thanks anyway, Harley Jeff

This.

The right tool for the job makes it much easier. You can get a decent set of snap ring pliers from sears pretty cheap.

I have snap ring pliers but they won't work for this application. EXHAUST SNAP RINGS HAVE NO HOLES IN THEM!!!! I used "Gliden's" method that is mentioned above and just installed them. Took a little "elbow grease", but got them on in about 4 minutes. Thanks for everyones input, however, I'm pretty sure Gliden is the only one here that's ACTUALLY replaced them before.

Thanks for your help Gliden, just installed the flanges and Snap rings in about 4 minutes using your method. Thanks again!

My appologies Ultra89Rider. Was not directed at you, however, mine was a different application because it's a 2 into 1 pipe. Thanks for you refforts, though!

Sorry...late for the bus here, but in addition I use blue masking tape (aka painter's tape) to protect metal parts from scratching. Works great...
