Default Exhaust Flange "Snap" Ring

Any tricks on slipping the "snap" ring over the end of the exhaust pipe. I have a new pipe I'm installing and don't want to scatch up the ceramic coating.

Any tips would be helpfull, other than using Brute Strength. Thanks!

When I changed mine, I would place the exhaust manifold clamp in place. Then I hook one end of the retaing ring under the lip of the header. Then I take a small flat blade screwdriver under the retaining ring from the open end of the pipe and work it around until the ring is in place. If you work from the opening, and not the pipe end, you will not scrape the chrome/ceramic coating and cause damage.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of that, but wasn't sure. Thanks again, Ultra89Rider

A set of snap-ring pliers that open when you squeeze the handles works for me.

Take two small vise grips and snap them on each side of the ring. Just pull hard making them spread and at that time kind of place the ring on the head of the pipe and spread and twist them. They will pop on and will retain their shape . Naturally make sure you already have the flange itself over the pipe before you do this.

I personally never saw a exhaust flange snap ring with holes for snap ring plyers.
