Wish I would've known that Iceman24. Got a few minor scratches on the powdercoat, but they're kinda hidden by the Heads and heat shields. Might help the next guy, so thanks!

I know, I know, ancient thread but when I read this I thought "Why didn't I think of that?". Worth the bump because this method only took me about a minute to do 2. (and I have struggled with the screwdriver method and the pliers method in the past :-)

True, but retaining ring pliers, like the piston ring expander, is the proper tool for snap rings with no holes; use the right tool for the job.

I used those pliers that max posted a link for. Yes there are no holes in the ring but the flats on that tool allow you to expand the ring.
