Default Engine Noise

Need some guidance here guy's,
Last time i took my 2011 street glide into the dealer for fluid changes (all Fluids) when i got my bike back and started it up it almost sounded like they forgot to put oil in it, i rode just down the street and checked the oil, it was full and the noise quieted down, i had 10,000 miles with that service and only use synthetic fluids. I have almost 14,000 miles now and periodically hear noise again, it sounds like and old 60's ford that is low on oil(clacking of the lifters) it silences after a few minutes. Also took it back to the dealer the first day after the service they said engine noise is normal and it is common, most likely something to do with the neutral gears and that it's nothing to worry about. The bike never maid a sound other than normal engin sounds until that service, seems kinda strange that the gears just now wore down enough to make some noise on the very same day the service was performed??? Any advice

So cal where does it sound like the noise is coming from the front, back or tranny area?
i just had i very similar issue last night. I have a little more mileage, I'm at 30k on an 09 street bob. i was riding last night and after about 35 min of night riding i had a noise surface sounded like a clanking and went away on its own, but it sound like it was coming from the front of the motor.

77- It sounds like it is coming from the front of the motor on mine too. goes away fairly quickly (10-15 seconds).

probably your lifters, are you using a different synthetic oil brand on this oil change?

some oils are noisier than others...

Default 10,000 Mile Service

My dealer did a 10,000 mile service to my bike recently using the newer syn3 in all 3 holes. It's the quietest the engine has ever been and the tightest the trans has been, even when new! I'm not trying to highjack the thread or turn it in to an oil thread. Just saying!

This comment is pretty much spot on.
Depending on the oil used you will hear more top end noise, lifters will bleed down faster or slower depending on brand of oil.
When I used mobil 1 after breaking in my 106 on conventional pennzoil 20w-50 the noise was so bad I thought something was broken. I couldn't take it and drained the mobil 1 out. Used royal purple auto 20w-50 and the noise was almost non existent until about 5000 miles on the oil then it got
loud again.
I went with motul this time. 10w-60 and no noise.
Try different brands of oil. One of them will quiet it down

Thanks for the response back guys. To answer your questions regarding motor oil used, i am not sure what the local HD dealership used, but I have used synthetic since the start. maybe they switched brands or put regular in it this time. I have another 1,000 to go before service again so let's see how it sounds after that one.
