Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
My winter project has been bumping my 2008 96" twin cam to a 103" using SE 10.5:1 pistons, HD factory CNC heads w/ACR's and a set of woods TW-555 cams. I used the SE head gaskets which mic'd out at .052" near the rivets. Cams were done with Fuel Moto adjustable push rods.
Took my time getting it back together. Added dino oil for break in.
I decided to do a compression test to see where it's at and I'm getting 205 psi front / 195 psi rear. Had the throttle wide open and cranked for 8-10 revolutions until the gauge needle stopped. I also switched the tester hose and checked it twice just to be sure. I know it should be in the 200 psi range.
I realize the rings aren't seated yet and the motor needs to be broke in, but should I be concerned about the nearly 5% difference in cylinder pressures at this stage?
If there's a concern, what should I check first?
