Last update :
While trying to get the money up for the lifters, me and my boy decided to take a look in the rocker boxes. We found that the rocker arm bushing play was above acceptable tolerance and had worn spots. Bought new rocker arm shafts and bushings but couldnt get the reamer just yet.

So I took the bushings out change sides and switched the shafts to opposite sides and reassembled it, just to see if the noise changed any. It did, the rattling and clanking is almost completely gone. This should hold up until I get a reamer to ream the new bushings the right way.

The price HD wants for that reamer is crazy so I will check and see what we have at work or I will find a shop that can do it for me. Thanks everyone for the help you really tried to give.

Problem: I had what sounded like excessive lifter noise.....

Resolution :
Changed to adjustable pushrods, and replaced the lifters......still had noise but somewhat different.

While diagnosing the problem found that the cam tensioners were worn and so was the primary tensioner shoe and the header pipe had 3 major cracks in them...........replaced all 3 and adjusted the primary chain and took the header pipe and had it welded.

After all that had a racket still in the rocker boxers. Took the cover off the back cylinder to find that the shaft clearance was about .01 over the tolerance so replaced the shafts and bushings.

After getting it all back together still had a ticking when giving it the gas, upon further checking the header still has a pin hole right where the cross over pipe is at the head so will get it re-welded or replaced as soon as I can find a stock header pipe.

Now maybe I can finally get some miles on my baby since I've had her for 4 months and barely got 400 miles so far this season.

THANKS to everyone that has listened and tried to help me get this problem straightened out I really appreciate it .............
