Mothballed Superglide
Hey Guys,my Father decides he finally wants to fire up his bike after sitting atleast 12 years. Its a low mileage Superglide that was runnin fine when last parked. I have not even attempted to start or turn it over before getting any suggestions. I don't wanna cuase any internal injuries on dry motor. Gas tank looks good inside,bike has been garaged and covered. Thanx in advance for any helpful hints

Before riding it change the tyres and flush the brake fluids through and check the brakes actually work! Check or replace the battery. Before running the engine drain and replace all oils then remove the spark plugs and give a squirt of oil into the cylinders. Drain and flush the gas tank and carb and check that the carb doesn't leak gas. Leave the gas turned off and turn the engine over on the starter to circulate oil. You can do that for a couple of minutes and should see oil returning to the tank. If all checks out replace plugs and see if it will fire and start!
