Default Now the EVO needs brakes

Have a set of brembo fronts coming. Going to swap out lowers for newer. I want to get rid of the harley air stuff up front. What's next? It's going to get a big motor this winter or next summer. The Avon cobras I put on that u guys recommend absolutely the best thing I have done. Ride is better. Riding it like a sport bike and washed out the front a couple times(pushed in my racing terms) I know go slower but I really want something better for the front. It dives way to easy with little brakes. I guess that's what happens when u get rid of MM efi

I did the racetech spring kit with the gold emulator from Howard (motorcycle metal).. I swapped out the original 20W oil I installed during the build, after 200mi... It's now running 5W pretty comfortably, I'm extremely happy with it, though its got more feedback than I'm used to. I know now that I need to replace the rears as well, just trying to get the duckies to do it.. For the brembos, I also replaced the brake line with a factory take off as well, pretty easy job.. My entire front end might be considered '09, with a speedo of course

Well, although I understand where you're coming from, there's only so much performance handling that you'll get from this bike. In 36 years of riding I have done a lot of different things including racing Yamaha super bikes, back before the term sport bike. I love my old FLHTC but, it sucks for carving the curvy roads up. The ground clearance is awful. I run progressive springs in the front and upgraded shocks with fresh swing arm bushings. I ride this bike hard and scrape hard parts on every ride. But, I can't imagine a scenario where a Harley FL chassis can be made to handle even with a stock GoldWing made since 1998.

With that said, I understand the wisdom for upgrading the stock setup. Even late model Harley FL's can use some help. The stock brakes on EVO FLH-- bikes are terrible when compared to pretty much everything made. They are good enough for most people but, fade terribly and give no meaningful feedback.

Look at the front end on a Honda Valkyrie. Inverted forks that seriously rock for a big heavy bike and the brakes are decent too. If one of those front ends could be made to fit on a Harley FL that would be the ticket. I used to run down sport bikes on my 1998 Valkyrie. That huge, fat front tire grips the road for as hard as you can push it. The feedback is first rate for a stock setup. You know exactly what is going on all the time.

Finished mine up last night, '06 lowers, '14 calipers and brake line, '09 wheel and rotors, 1" axle and All ***** bearings.

Very happy with the results.

All parts for swingarm upgrade and rear Brembo on the way.

excellent I have to hunt up parts now. Stopped to pick up the "new take off brembos". Guy didn't know crap. Hey you just bore the speedo drive for axle? What was bearing part number. I put the 2013 wheel on the 3/4 axle but don't have those numbers either. You do the master also?

Bearings used
http://www.jpcycles.com/product/202-183
seal and bushing kit(can replace lowers without removing fairing with the air anti-dive setup)
I'm using 50/50 mix Belray 10w & 15w fork oil, 12psi air, actually performs pretty good, satisfied for now.

I followed HGM's lead of turning down the axle in his Winter Snowball thread.

I have a little different setup due to using the 1" bearings in a '09 wheel, modified my original speedo drive.(would take 2 pages to explain what I ended up doing)

Got the spacer width info from the sticky in Wheel/tires section, ended up with .780" left and 650" right, with the right leg pulled to the edge of the cross hole in the 1" axle, caliper spacing was perfect.

Using the original M/C, dot5, one or two finger operation now.
No more kung-fu death grip and wondering if this some-beach is gonna stop.
