according to Mustang web site 80-88 interchange
89-96 interchange
It's been a while since I had my 87, and the front was square where it mounted over the gas tank, in 89 they changed to a round front seat.
I think you can make some modification and interchange them.
Since used seats that old in good shape are hard to come by you may get someone willing to make concessions
