I see you point on the tall head gasket guys, I will need to do the tests that Schex3x has suggested. Where did you get that measuring tube thingy? I want one I am going to use some puddy on the piston to find out what the valve clearance is. Also going to talk to Woods on Monday about the w6h. I really would like to get to 100hp now that Im in it. Many Thanks to all!
that measuring tube thingy is called a buret they can get a little pricey
I have used and sold Branch heads since 1985 I use a very mild EV 23 cam 45mm Keihn carb.with Patriot Defender pipe on a 1998 RK it has proven to be a great combo.
Never had any on a dyno but seat of the pants I liked it better than the 13,27 and 3 built a lot of motorcycles with this app and everyone was happy..Starts pulling at about 1800 rpm and pulls good to 5500 doesn't need to be down shifted much I also have a thunder jet RSD air filter 34 tooth trans pulley and Dyna S dual fire ignition
What results did you get with them? Were you able to make up what the '23 loses on top to other cams?
the 23 has a LSA of 103 < giving it lots of bottom like you know in a stock combo blows out early in the RPMs
BUT - branch heads have a smaller combustion chamber AND un shrouded valves, re directed ports to take advantage of intake track speed, combine that with a mechanical advancer he uses in the ignition and total advance comes out at 1800 ( they vary ) and a free flowing exhaust - i believe a typo in the 45 MM carb it was most likely a 42 MM and you can streach that cam out - look how early the intake opens and closes = 10 X 30 = so the motor traps static and breathes very well
you get lots and lots of power and you get it very quick < the quick is the key behind the combo -- good find --
