Studs, bolts, its all the same really, just use some fancy nuts and save yourself a world of pain.....for one thing you'll know they won't just drop out as you are riding...

ok I did some research this morning studs were used 1st quarter 93 softail solid cast wheels front and rear. Harley never gave a reason why they stopped using the studs but did pay for parts & labor to remove them. so you may have one of those wheels.

Yeah, probably red loc-tite in there. It takes a good deal of heat to break that stuff loose. Look at the 3 you took out. Any kind of powdery stuff on the ends that were in the wheel?

Tons of red locktite on them. I was able to get one more out with heat. I have in and took it to the machine shop. I am supposed to get it back tomorrow

I can still make you a deal on the same style wheel, fully polished and chrome plated, with no such issues. I think I offered it once already in a different thread.

Thanks but I already paid for this one and I am going to have it powder coated black. The chrome one of yours won't help me much unless you want me to pay for shipping and you're sending it to me for while my bikes down

Got it all fixed up. The machine shop removed the two studs and cleaned all the holes out nice for me. It is now on the bike and all lined up. I even had time to setup my new drill press I got from christmas. Score

Congrats. The leather bags look great. You'll love the drill press, I did not realize how much I'd use mine until I got it.

BTW, you should change your sig pic now.
